Celebrating the spirit of Mother’s Day—observed on the second Sunday of May—renowned poet, lyricist, and social worker Jharna Bhattacharya unveiled her fourth poetry collection titled “Floating in Language” in a heartfelt event held at the iconic Coffee House in Kolkata. The book was published by Barta Publishing.
In an emotional moment during the launch, Jharna shared, “I have heard the language of my mother since I was a child, and it is a great achievement to have my book published on the day dedicated to that mother.” The statement resonated deeply with the audience, many of whom had gathered to celebrate both the poet’s work and the occasion of linguistic pride.
When asked about the theme and essence of the book, Jharna Bhattacharya elaborated, “I have woven some poems in the book in the form of feelings by giving the light of words to the alleys of the mind that remain dark.” Her poetry continues to explore inner emotional landscapes and the subtle interplay between language and memory.
Known for her lyrical depth and social commitment, Jharna’s latest work adds a new layer to her literary journey, reflecting personal emotion through a universal lens of linguistic and cultural identity.
