At a time when entire cultures, voices, and ways of life are quietly disappearing, a new institution called TORI has stepped forward with a singular purpose—to protect what is most at risk.
Inspired by the idea of Noah’s Ark, TORI envisions itself as a modern sanctuary in response to today’s invisible floods: languages erased by conflict, cultural legacies like Bengal’s Kobir Lorai fading into memory, survivors of domestic violence suffering unheard, and men carrying unspoken emotional pain. The name TORI comes from the Bengali expression “যে বা যারা বা যা কিছু বিপন্ন”—signifying all that is endangered—and reflects the organisation’s inclusive and compassionate ethos.
A Shared Beginning
TORI was born from the collaboration between Saraswati Bhandar and Urjaa, two organisations that combined their experience and vision to create a platform focused on protection, renewal, and long-term impact.
Safeguarding the Fragile
The mission of TORI is simple yet profound: to safeguard people, traditions, and beings that the world is in danger of forgetting. From endangered communities and disappearing heritage to threatened livelihoods and silenced individuals, TORI seeks to offer safety, dignity, and opportunity.
Four Pathways to Protection
TORI’s work is guided by four core pillars. Sekor (The Root) focuses on preserving cultural traditions facing extinction. Safe Space offers refuge to those suffering in silence, including domestic violence survivors and men struggling to express vulnerability. Protection delivers emergency support to all vulnerable lives—whether an animal in distress or a community in crisis. Foundation lays the groundwork for sustainable futures through education, advocacy, and empowerment.
Blending Technology with Compassion
What distinguishes TORI is its forward-looking approach, NGO.Next, which leverages technology and artificial intelligence to strengthen collaboration with like-minded NGOs. Rather than replacing existing efforts, TORI amplifies them—ensuring transparency, efficiency, and greater reach—while keeping human empathy at the heart of every action.
Guided by the belief that “Technology Scales. Humans Heal,” TORI represents a new model for social impact—one where innovation and compassion work hand in hand to protect what matters most.
