The vibrant neighbourhood of Ghosh Para in Newtown came alive as the Sangrampur Committee hosted an impressive Chhath Puja ceremony, drawing hundreds of devotees and community members. The celebration was marked by traditional rituals performed at sunset, accompanied by cultural harmony and enthusiastic public participation.
A number of eminent personalities graced the occasion, including MLA and committee chairman Tapas Chatterjee, Ward 2 Councillor and MMIC Rahima Bibi Mondal, Borough 1 Chairman Shahnawaz Ali Mondal, MMIC Aratrika Bhattacharya, social worker Shyamal Ghosh, Saheb Ali, ENT specialist Prof. Dr. Somanath Saha, patron Santosh Kumar Balmiki, committee president Ashok Kumar Pandit, Anil Saw, secretary Munna Lal Sam, Vijay Saw, Laxman Vishwakarma, Sushant De, Badobhai, Madan Kumar Jha, Kali Prasad Jaiswal Dubela, Rajendra Ram, Mitali Khan, Mampi Mondal, Vimal Pradhan, Santosh Thakur, Vikas Balmiki and others.
The guests offered arghya to the setting Sun, following the sacred Chhath traditions with devotion and reverence. Event conductor Monalisa Di ensured the programme proceeded smoothly and in an organised manner.
As the event concluded, prasad was distributed generously among devotees and passersby, symbolising unity, blessings, and the communal spirit that Chhath Puja beautifully represents.
