Eastern India is gearing up for one of its most vibrant year-end cultural extravaganzas as the Hindusthan Art & Music Society (HAM Society) announces the arrival of Bharat Sanskriti Utsab 2025. Scheduled from 18 to 31 December, the festival will span two major cultural hubs — Burdwan and Kolkata — and promises a diverse display of Indian classical, folk, and contemporary art forms.
The festival opens in Purba Bardhaman on 18 December, with events spread across Town Hall Maidan, Sanskriti Lokomancha, and the Municipal Boys School Ground & Hall. After five days of performances and competitions, the celebration shifts to Kolkata from 26 to 31 December, taking place at the Calcutta Blind School Ground & Hall and Behala Sarat Sadan.
This year’s edition is momentous, as it marks both the 18th National and the 50th International Dance Competition and Festival. Festival President Hon’ble MLA Sri Debasish Kumar, who will inaugurate the programme, highlighted the scale of the event, saying that daily activities will run from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with competitions wrapping up by 5:00 p.m.
The enthusiasm surrounding the event is reflected in the impressive registration numbers. HAM Society Secretary Mr. Prosenjit Poddar revealed that entries have poured in from 14 Indian states and 6 countries, including participants from the USA, Dubai, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia. This year’s total participation has already reached 5,777, marking a 12% rise from last year.
More than just a festival, Bharat Sanskriti Utsab has emerged as an important cultural bridge — offering opportunities to seasoned performers and rising talents alike. The festival will feature an extensive lineup: classical dance, folk dance traditions, instrumental and vocal recitals, drama, visual arts, and various forms of creative expression. At its core, the event carries forward the message of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat”, celebrating unity through the arts.
