“Ritu-Pointer” -an unforgettable evening to salute filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh, a bright alumnus of South Point

A unique cultural evening — “Ritu-Pointer” — was held at the premises of South Point Junior School to pay tribute to the legendary filmmaker and writer Shri Rituparno Ghosh.

The special evening organized by the South Point Alumni Association ASPEXS was part of the annual year-end festival, where the creative contribution of one of the great alumni of the school, Rituparno Ghosh, was celebrated.

The event created an atmosphere of remembrance around the life and work of Rituparno Ghosh through songs, poems, discussions. Three distinguished guests discussed in detail the impact of her films, literature and cultural thought — Arghya Kamal Mitra (renowned film editor), Anindya Chatterjee (popular singer) and Pratim D. Gupta (acclaimed filmmaker).

Their brief speeches brought to light the multidimensionality and relevance of Rituparno Ghosh’s work.

Other distinguished alumni of South Point also participated in the evening. Through recitation, music and recollections of the golden past, they reminisced about Rituparno’s childhood, creative life and school life.

Meghnath Roy Chowdhury, Honorary Secretary (ASPEXS), said,
“Rituparno Ghosh is not only our pride, he is an integral part of our culture. This evening was an expression of our deep respect and love for Rituparno.”

“Ritu-Pointer” was not just an event, but a platform for reminiscing, an occasion for restoring friendship and a unique celebration of unity for the alumni.
