Mental Health Society (MHS), a holistic mental wellness organization, hosted its flagship event “Mindscape: Conversations for Change” to mark World Mental Health Day at the iconic Indian Museum, Kolkata. The day-long event aimed to spark meaningful dialogues, foster empathy, and create inclusive spaces where minds and hearts could connect beyond stigma and silence.

Founded by Namrata Bhowmik, an RCI-registered Consultant Psychologist and Assistant Professor of Psychology, MHS envisions a world where conversations around mental health are open, inclusive, and stigma-free. Established in 2023 as an online platform, the Society has since expanded its outreach through its offline chamber at Dumdum Cantonment.

The ‘Mindscape’ event was organized under the leadership of Suchismita Chakraborty, Administrative Manager and Senior Psychologist at MHS. The celebrations began with a musical performance by neurodiverse children, setting a tone of inclusivity and warmth.

Throughout the day, attendees participated in interactive discussions focusing on holistic well-being and societal growth, featuring eminent personalities from diverse fields. Students had the opportunity to engage in Alternative Therapy Sessions, including Music Therapy, Art Therapy, and Dance Movement Therapy, conducted by experienced professionals.

The celebration opened with a musical performance by neurodiverse children, symbolising the beauty of diversity, resilience and creative expression.
     Then a lively Panel Discussion took place on the topic “Embracing Neurodiversity: Rethinking Inclusion in Education, Workplace, and Society”.
     The Panelists were Emili Banerjee, Sumitra Paul Bakshi, Dhoopchhaya Majumder, Mohini Ojha, Nilanjana Rambothu and Dr. RudraJit Sinha  Moderator was Debdutta Mandal, Program Coordinator at MHS.
   Second Panel Discussion was on “Impact of Social Dynamics on the Mental Health of Children and Young Adults”, moderated by Debangana Bhattacharya.
   The Panelists included Minali Sehdev, Dr. Madhurima Dasgupta, Sudipa Bardhan Mazumdar, Shreyashi Bhaumik Sinha, Ruplekha Sinha Roy, Poulami Pal and Asish Basak.
    There was an interesting session, featuring eminent psychologists like Jonaki Mukherjee, Siddhartha Sanyal, Papri Das, psychiatrists like Dr. Arka Adhvaryu, Dr. Supratik Kundu, Dr. Arundhati Biswas and professors like Dr. Anindita Mukherjee, Dr. Nilanjana Mitra, exploring vital conversations around inclusivity, empathy, and evolving perspectives on mental health. It was coordinated by Resource Coordinator Indrani Karmakar.
      The event also had Alternative Therapy Sessions, interactive sessions on Music Therapy, Art Therapy and Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) by expert practitioners highlight the healing potential of creative expression.
      Adding to the occasion, special guests of the program included Alokananda Roy – Dancer & Social Reformer, RJ Atritra – Popular Radio Personality, Ishan Porel – Indian Cricketer, Aradhana Chatterjee – Digital Influencer, Kolaj Sengupta – Actor and others.   They emphasized the importance of mental well-being in every sphere of life.
    The evening witnessed an energetic performance by the Bengali Folk Band ‘Shobdo Kolpo Droom’, celebrating the harmony of mind, music and community.

The mega event by Mental Health Society concluded on a soulful note— a fitting finale to a day dedicated to breaking barriers and nurturing conversations for change.
