Dr. Kallol Basu, an eminent promoter of Bengali culture and noted heritage revivalist, was conferred with the Social Impact Excellence Award by the Rotary Club of Kasba in a grand ceremony held at Pragyan Bhawan. The event was graciously hosted by Dr. Suresh Agarwal, Chairman of BLISS Foundation.
Dr. Basu, who holds a Ph.D. in Business Transformation, was recognised for his extensive contributions to cultural preservation, social work, and community development. The award, comprising a medal, memento, and certificate of appreciation, was presented to him by a panel of distinguished guests, including singer Rtn. Pranati Saha, renowned reciter LION Sangita Das, Dr. Koushik Chakraborty, Ipsita Chakraborty, dance expert Indrani Ganguly, and social influencer Asish Basak, who also serves as the President of Rotary Club of Kasba.
Currently engaged with a top ITES company in the United States, Dr. Basu is also a freelance journalist contributing to leading English dailies. He is an active participant in cross-national cultural collaborations and serves on the archival board of the US-India Historical Society. Additionally, he volunteers for the US Consulate General, East India, and supports various NGOs both in the US and India, working on causes such as youth employment, food security, adult literacy, and climate change.
A trained elocutionist, Dr. Basu frequently performs at prominent cultural venues across India, the UK, and the USA. His passion for heritage preservation is evident in the numerous awareness campaigns and programs he leads in Kolkata. He is also involved in conducting management development programs at premier business schools.
Speaking on the occasion, Asish Basak, Managing Trustee of the Rotary Club of Kasba, remarked, “Dr. Kallol Basu’s unwavering commitment to the promotion of Bengali culture and heritage revival makes him a truly deserving recipient of this honour.”
