January 12th, today is Swami Vivekananda’s birthday. Today is National Youth Day. In the morning, cyclists from Kolkata and the surrounding areas gathered at the Swamiji’s birthplace and residence on Vivekananda Road.
The fog had not yet lifted in front of Swamiji’s house in Heduwa. Early in the morning, young cyclists gathered in front of Vivekananda’s house and filled the place with noise. We know that Swami Vivekananda recited the Gita, he played football in the schoolyard. It is known from ‘Swami Vivekananda in London’ written by his younger brother Mahendranath Dutt that he also cycled. One morning in London, while cycling, he sang, ” The boat of the saint has given me the waves.
The boat floated in the morning, I thought this is a water sport, Sameer will be sweet, I will be swept away in the waves ”
This morning, we cyclists were swept away like this, with our beloved Narendranath.
National Youth Day was celebrated on January 12th.
Swami Vivekananda’s call, “Abandon hatred and pride in front of others. Learn to work together for others. This is a great need for our country.” On the occasion of National Youth Day, we, the bicycle friends, are celebrating this day with Swamiji’s words at heart. The need for bicycles is increasing in order to reduce the air pollution level in Kolkata city. It saves people’s travel expenses. Mutual kindness and cooperation increase by cycling together. May the positive message spread throughout the society.
Cycling is good for everyone. This rally organized by We are The Common People and Bengali Bicycle Society concluded at Kashipur Udyan Bati, with 130 cyclists joining.
