Kolkata witnessed a memorable cultural and academic gathering as the Dr. Kashi Prasad Jaiswal Memorial Committee celebrated the 145th birth anniversary of the globally acclaimed historian, freedom fighter, and Hindi scholar, Dr. Kashi Prasad Jaiswal, at the historic Rammohan Hall. The occasion also marked the presentation of the prestigious Dr. Kashi Prasad Jaiswal Pratibha Samman 2025.
The ceremony was enriched by the presence of noted personalities. Distinguished social worker Awadhesh Sath and Manoj Jaiswal of the National Adhyayam Jaiswal Club were bestowed with the Social Service Award 2025. Celebrated poet and author Mrs. Sharmishtha Bag received the Dr. Kashi Prasad Jaiswal Sahitya Seva Samman 2025, recognizing her outstanding literary contributions.
In a heartfelt acknowledgment of continued service to society, the Nav Sopan Hridaypur Social Organization was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Each awardee was presented with a certificate, shriphal, shawl and tulsi garland. The event was presided over by Arvind Sau of Kashipur, who extended warm appreciation to all dignitaries.
A host of eminent guests, including Avadhesh Sau, Prof. Sanjay Jaiswal, Ramakrishna Jaiswal (Consulate of Maldives), Chief Guest Dwarka Prasad Jaiswal, Raj Mithauliya, Ramchandra Jaiswal, Mrs. Sharmishtha Bag, and Shoubhik Ghosh of Nav Sopan graced the event with their presence.
The literary ambience deepened as poets Alok Chaudhary, Vikas Singh, Rampukar Singh, Kavita Kogri, Hiralal Jaiswal, Dr. Manoj Mishra, and Gaurav Keshari presented soulful recitations, adding artistry to the celebration.
The program was smoothly conducted by Shiv Jaiswal, while Mrs. Rajni Jaiswal offered a gracious Vote of Thanks. The celebration also turned emotional as attendees mourned the sudden demise of Ratan Lal Jaiswal, patron of the organization, who passed away earlier that morning. The gathering observed a minute’s silence to offer prayers for the peace of his soul.
The event stood as a true reflection of Dr. Jaiswal’s enduring legacy — one that continues to inspire scholarship, social service, and cultural enrichment.
